Daylight Saving Time Ending November 5th at 2AM

Although you probably hear it referred to as Daylight “Savings,” the correct name is Daylight “Saving” Time.

  • Benjamin Franklin first suggested the idea of Daylight Saving Time in his 1784 satirical essay, “An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light.”
  • States that do not observe Daylight Saving Time: Hawaii and Arizona (except for the state’s Navajo Nation).
  • Since the Uniform Time Act of 1966, which established a standardized system of when Daylight Saving Time started and ended throughout the United States, Congress has expanded the length of Daylight Saving Time three times. Today, we observe it from March until November.
  • Only about one-quarter of the world’s population, in approximately 70 countries, observe Daylight Saving Time.

If you have a Masterclock Timing System in your facility, there is no need to worry—our systems configure to observe Daylight Saving Time in any time zone. All Masterclock analog clocks and digital displays easily configure to time zone and Daylight Saving Time parameters. (The software is included.) Check out our NTDS line of NTP digital displays and our TCDS series of time code driven digital clocks.
