Redundant Airport Timing System
Yangon, Myanmar

Yangon International Airport

The Yangon International Airport is the busiest airport in Myanmar. In order to accommodate surging passengers and air traffic, in 2013 the facility underwent a $150 million modernization. The project, completed in 2015, increased the airport’s capacity to 6 million passengers annually.

Masterclock was chosen as the timing system manufacturer for the airport’s revitalization. The system uses redundant NTP and time code distribution via a 2-channel LTC distribution amplifier and auto-switching power supply for reliable, accurate time synchronization. Terminal work stations, air traffic display boards, and airport security systems all use Masterclock’s precise timing devices to stay in sync. Throughout the facility, 47 of Masterclock's steel-encased NTDS44 digital display clocks provide passengers and employees the correct time utilizing Power over Ethernet (PoE) and Network Time Protocol (NTP).
